O acompanhamento de gestações com malformação fetal: como é essa vivência para os médicos

Abstract

This research aims to study the experiences of doctors in the follow-up of pregnant women diagnosed with fetal malformations, seeking to investigate how they deal with these users, their families and histories. For this, interviews were carried out, based on a script prepared for the research that included nine open questions. Physicians working in the Fetal Medicine Sector of the Maternity School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) participated. The main hypothesis of the study was that doctors find different ways to deal with this situation, based on their own system of beliefs and values ​​as one of the strategies for their performance. The research, developed as a conclusion work for a multiprofessional residency in perinatal health. adopted a qualitative approach with a descriptive and analytical method, using the analysis methodology of Bardin's Discourse: As results of the research, discourses were found that revealed both the challenges of this experience for doctors, especially the communication of the difficult diagnosis. and the supports they develop for the exercise of their performance. In addition, they showed both the perception of the doctor's self-image and the characteristics of the relationships that these professionals build with their patients, making it possible, then, to observe how both these elements produce effects on each other.
