The objective of this research was to identify and to analyze corporative learning systems adopted by Brazilian franchising companies to find structural elements that result in corporative learning success and/or opportunities to improve it. The methods used were: identification of the Brazilian Franchise Association (ABF) recommendations related to learning systems in franchising companies; case study of a corporative university implemented in a franchising company; systematic review to find papers, theses and dissertation related to learning systems adopted by franchising companies and; a survey with franchisees and franchisors. The main results were related to: i. Profile of franchisees and their development needs; ii. Objectives of learning programs that can offer support to business strategies; iii. Concerned public, where little engagement and participation of diverse stakeholders were identified; iv. Subjects, which shows that franchisees display interest in management, innovation and development while franchisors provide knowledge related to operational subjects and franchising structure; v. Methodologies, with predominance of the formal and on-site methods, although franchisees affirm the necessity of the blended method and distance learning; vi. Presence of organizational structure related to corporative leaning systems; vii. low use of methodologies that allow the evaluation of training results; viii. Partial involvement of franchisees in the definition of corporate education systems, and; xix. punctual offer of educational actions, aligned with the objectives of the franchisors and the needs of the franchisees.
