Abstract

This e-book presents essential information on dental trauma in children and adolescents with visual impairment, a topic still rarely addressed in the literature and in healthcare practice. In addition to contextualizing the greater vulnerability of this population to orofacial injuries, it explains the main types of dental trauma, their possible consequences, and the importance of early recognition by parents and caregivers. The material also provides preventive guidance and practical strategies to reduce the risk of accidents, as well as objective instructions on how to proceed in emergency situations and where to seek specialized care. Developed within the context of the Incluir_Odonto Project and linked to the Professional Master’s Program in Dentistry at UFRJ, in partnership with the Dentistry sector of the Instituto Benjamin Constant, this book was designed with visual accessibility resources to ensure that its content is useful, inclusive, and applicable to the daily life of families.
