O Parque Ibirapuera: monumentalidade e modernismo

Abstract

The present article aims to provide a reflection about monumentality and its representation during the modernist period, especially in the Parque Ibirapuera (São Paulo) case. In general, answers are sought for the following questions: How monumentality, as an urban practice and symbolic dimension, is captured and used by modernist architects and urbanists? And how, in Parque Ibirapuera, the instrumentalisation of this monumentality occurs?
