As representações sociais dos pais diante da amamentação e do desmame precoce

Abstract

Doctoral thesis project that addresses the experiences of weaning under the paternal optics. Assuming the father figure as a participant baby care asset, which contributes to their own beliefs about the breastfeeding, arising from their experiences and the culture where they are immersed, we delimited as general objective of the study to discuss the experience of the weaning the baby from the paternal point of view. The specific objectives are to verify the father's representation of breastfeeding and weaning and analyzing the nexuses between socioeconomic and cultural aspects of breastfeeding and weaning of the baby from the paternal point of view. The qualitative approach will be used and the theory of social representations. For data collection, the interview, with the help of a semi-structured script. The social actors will be parents who are accompanying their children to the pediatric consultation in an outpatient clinic of a public unit in the city of Rio de Janeiro, whose children have been weaned before completing the sixth month of life. For the analysis and interpretation of data from this study, we used part of the enunciation analysis technique proposed by Bardin. Descriptors: breastfeeding, paternity
