Resumo
The importance of fire prevention in buildings for the transition to a cleaner energy matrix has been thoroughly explored in several studies. The relevance and concept of fire prevention in Energy Transition in Buildings are the subject of advancement and evolution in recent decades and the focus of our research. Although essential for a more sustainable future for the next generations, Energy Transition presents new challenges and problems to be overcome, especially in terms of how to ensure fire safety. Despite the great relevance of the energy transition, there is a significant gap in the scientific literature regarding fire risks. Technologies used such as Energy Storage Systems (Lithium-Ion Batteries), Photovoltaic Panels, Heat Pumps, High-Efficiency HVAC, Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers, Thermal Storage Systems, Micro Wind Generators, and Photovoltaic Inverters present specific risks that require a robust and up-to-date safety approach. This study aims to develop a practical guide for construction professionals, designers, and building managers to mitigate the fire risks inherent in these technologies and analyze the fire risks associated with the energy transition in buildings, propose necessary mitigation measures for prevention, and identify the main challenges and opportunities. The implementation of specific fire safety standards and regulations is a fundamental and essential pillar for ensuring the viability of the energy transition and building a safer and more resilient future.
