Background: Preterm birth, defined as a delivery occurring before 37 completed weeks of gestation, is one of the leading causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality and remains a major challenge in modern obstetrics. Early identification of pregnant women at increased risk is essential for the implementation of effective preventive measures. Objectives: This study aims to develop a clinical and care protocol for ultrasonographic screening to prevent preterm labor at the Maternity School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, integrating the best scientific evidence on diagnosis and management. Methodology: This is a descriptive, theoretical study based on a literature review, including guidelines and recent articles from recognized institutions. Conclusion: It is expected that standardizing care practices will promote the uniformity of maternal-fetal care, optimize health resources, and reduce the incidence of preterm birth, thereby contributing to improved neonatal outcomes.
