Valorando serviços ecossistêmicos associados a projetos de recuperação e conservação ambiental em reservatórios hidrelétricos: recursos pesqueiros no reservatório de Três Irmãos, São Paulo

Abstract

This article deals with the benefits of conservation and reservoir management actions that result in the production of fish by professional artisanal fishermen. Additionally, the benefits of fish restocking with native species are estimated. As an illustrative case study, the positive impacts generated by the actions developed in the Três Irmãos dam (Tietê River, São Paulo state, Brazil) are presented and discussed. Based on data collected between 2015 and 2017, professional artisanal fishing in Três Irmãos annually yields about 312 tonnes of fish with a fishing production value (PPV) of 1.6 million Reais. In a 20-year horizon, this PPV represents about 702.2 million Reais, and in 30 years this value amounts to approximately 1.1 billion Reais. Approximately 16 tonnes (5% of total) or 127,000 Reais per month IN PPV (8% of the total) are from native species whose existence in the lake can be attributed to restocking. Thus, maintaining the existing conditions both in relation to the pace of storage and the relationship between fish populations between themselves and the environment and fishing, restocking in Três Irmãos can develop earnings of the order of 56.2 million in a 20-year horizon, or 87.5 million in 30 years.
