O loop na arte audiovisual experimental

Abstract

The paper introduces some reflexions regarding the use of the loop in images and experimental audiovisual art. The loop is a narrative, artistic and technological resource in which a sequence of elements is repeated in order to produce a result beyond its constituent parts. We consider the loop as a repetition producing difference. Through an analysis of optical devices of the so-called pre-cinema, fractal images and works by Duchamp, Dan Graham and Martin Arnold we aim to clarify and reflect on our concept of “spiral loop”.
