Da terra de ninguém para a terra dos fidalgos: o caso da Vila Autódromo

Abstract

The work studies the resistance to the attempts of eviction of the Vila Autódromo community. This is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the neighborhood of Jacarepaguá, next to the Autodromo Nelson Piquet. The history of popular resistance can be divided into three phases: the first goes until 1993 when there is expropriation for the construction of the racetrack; the second phase is in 1993, when the prefecture imposes an expropriation action, alleging environmental damage; the last phase begins in 2005 with the use of the racetrack at the Pan American Games bringing the argument that the community "pollutes" the images that will be broadcast outside the country.
