Abstract

This article aims to outline the peculiar contours of religious conflicts in contemporary Brazil that point to an understanding that this phenomenon contains a genealogy anchored in ideological formulations of colonial origin constructed to subordinate or extinguish the experiences, memories, stories, resources and cultural products of colonized peoples. /enslaved people marked by the construction of a discourse of mental and cultural inferiority based on artificially created racial differences. Its current designs respond to the colonial legacy of epistemic racism, intertwined with the dispute over the religious market and the peculiar characteristics of national religiosity credulous of magical-religious solutions to its everyday problems, overlapping with the tendency of Brazilian society to use violence to solve problems. conflicts.
