Avaliação do uso de modelos hidrodinâmicos, suas limitações, efeitos de escala e da representação topográfica

Abstract

This work was proposed to compare hydrodynamic models, namely: HEC RAS, IBER and MODCEL. Searching evaluate the suitability of each model, the modeling approach pertinent, as well as, the need for fundamental information for each model. Using as an area of study the Piabanha River, in Petrópolis in State of Rio de Janeiro, where were available cross sections and a digital terrain model, obtained from a photogrammetric survey. Exist two hydrology monitoring stations with discharge measurement, which allowed the evaluation of the behavior of the water level in the monitoring sections in the hydrodynamic models, when the roughness coefficient of Manning was altered. As a conclusion, the results of the models were divergent, emphasizing the importance of calibration and validation by the modeler, and topography proved to be determinant in the results, beyond the importance of the approach and the equation of each modelo.
