MPLS-TE: o futuro das redes de comutação de pacotes

Abstract

Networks Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) have followed a long way since its creation, which intended to allow core routers to switch packets quickly using simple headers. Today MPLS networks are the foundation of many networks based on Internet Protocol (IP), adding value to the services of the Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as traffic engineering and Virtual Private Network (VPN). Expanding the use of MPLS to the edge of networks is showing some weaknesses of the protocol as transport technology. The proposed Multi-Protocol Label Switching – Transport Engineering (MPLS-TE) MPLS is precisely adapt to become more like a transport protocol.
