A legitimação das barragens na Amazônia pelo discurso do jornal Valor Econômico

Abstract

This work is the result of a research developed during the course Energy and Society in Contemporary Capitalism, realized through the agreement between the Movement of the Affected by Dams and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, by the Institute of Research and Urban and Regional Planning. Its objective is to conduct a pilot study of discourse analysis used by Valor Econômico newspaper to legitimize the hydroelectric plants in the Amazon, mainly the Santo Antônio and Jirau mills, which are being built on the Madeira River in Rondônia, and the Belo Monte, scheduled to be built on the Xingu River, in Pará. The materials selected for the analysis were published during 2009 and the reading that develops part of the analysis of the society divided into classes, involving concepts such as representation, power and ideology .
