Humanização da assistência de enfermagem na pesagem do recém-nascido em unidades de terapia neonatal

Abstract

Objective: To describe the professional practice of the nursing team during the weighing of newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and to describe the neurobehavioral signs presented during the procedure. Method: non-participant, analytical, descriptive, cross-sectional observational research with a quantitative approach. Data was collected by observing the procedure and filling in a structured checklist based on the weighing protocol already implemented at the institution. Results: The temperature of the environment was controlled and the nursing team was concerned about controlling the local temperature; however, it was possible to see that there was little adherence to comfort methods such as rolling and non-nutritive sucking during weighing. Conclusion: Although the institution offers standard operating protocols, adherence to the guidelines described is not fully implemented. In this sense, in addition to demonstrating fragility in complying with these steps, which can have consequences for the newborn.
