Abstract

The Thirtieth Academic Journey of the School of Dentistry was full of symbols: the remembrance of the harsh pandemic period, during which we lost loved ones; the joy of being alive and together again, celebrating life; the strength of science and knowledge; the continuity of an event that has been happening for 30 years. The event was entirely free, made possible by the work of the organizing committee, the PET Dentistry UFRJ group (Tutorial Education Program), volunteer students, with support from various sponsors and the administration. It also relied on the generosity of all faculty members, both from our institution and others, who shared their knowledge by lecturing and evaluating works with us. This proves that unity is strength and together we are powerful. Nothing is possible without this unity towards a common purpose: making the Journey happen, for everyone! This journey also celebrated the 90 years of the UFRJ School of Dentistry, one of the most respected in the country, thanks once again to the collective effort that it represents. An event that highlighted the importance of continuous learning and public, free, and quality education. If the Thirtieth Academic Journey of the UFRJ School of Dentistry were expressed in numbers, 14 professors participated in the organizing committee,12 PET students, 8 supporting students, 5 pre-event lectures were held, 188 papers were presented, 21 activities were offered including lectures, symposia, and hands-on sessions, we had 24 sponsors, 24 evaluating professors, and 39 professors from our institution and guests gave lectures. If expressed in emotions, it was possible to perceive: love, because all the organization and dedication were the result of our love for Dentistry and teaching. I would also choose friendship, as most of the participating professors are our friends who generously came to share their knowledge. Thus, whether expressed in numbers or feelings, in concrete or abstract data, this Journey was, as we dreamed, special, worthy of celebrating the 90 years of the School of Dentistry. There was learning, interaction, and inspiration. We were together and supported each other!!! Our thanks to everyone!!!
