Dimensão da morfologia na segregação urbana: bordas de infraestruturas de mobilidade da RMRJ

Abstract

The expansion of urban mobility infrastructures has produced profound transformations in the morphology of contemporary cities, contributing to the formation of dispersed, fragmented, and discontinuous spatial patterns, often associated with processes of segregation and impacts on conditions of accessibility and urban circulation. In this context, this thesis aims to analyze urban segregation from a morphological perspective, structuring the analysis through analytical categories related to distance and the presence of physical barriers. The adopted methodology is based on cartographic and spatial analysis of the surroundings of urban mobility infrastructures in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro (MRRJ), enabling a systematic reading of occupation patterns, spatial relations, and levels of urban segregation and integration. As a result, the research identifies different degrees and configurations of morphological segregation along these infrastructures, highlighting their effects on the organization of urban space and on micromobility. This study contributes to the advancement of the theoretical and methodological debate on the impacts of mobility infrastructures on the production of urban space, offering insights to support urban planning and design.
