Abstract

Analysis of the profession of carnavalesco, research into its history, beginnings and forerunners of Samba Schools, including the technicians of the “Ranchos” and “Grandes Sociedades”. An analysis of their field of work, transformations which occurred in the alterations of the materials and techniques introduced by the Carnavalescos. A description of their professional interacting and aspects pretaining to acceptance of the profession by the general public and its reconignition by public authorities. A survey of the various stages of their work and the activities exercised by them, totalizing fifteen different functions. An analysis of the cultural role of the Samba School and definition of the profile of their leading professional.
