Resumo

Mechanical stresses can influence on dissolution rate of materials. In this work we will explore how this influence occurs in solubility. Even though our motivation is the problem of corrosion, dissolution is a problem that has application in several areas. For this, we developed the dissolution model based on the Mechanics and Thermodynamics of Continuum. In addition, we include the balance of configurational forces in order to obtain an expression for the saturation concentration. This way of structuring the problem allows us to include other effects that influence the dissolution process. In addition, this is a versatile model that allows application not only in the problem of corrosion, but in any problem of dissolution. Thus, as a way of illustrating how the saturation concentration behaves in a body subjected to mechanical stresses and how the rate of dissolution is affected we propose the solution of some examples
