Ramal do Arará: favelas em margens ferroviárias e a produção do espaço urbano

Abstract

This work presents an analysis of the occupation of the domain strips of the Ramal Arará Cargo Railway, in Rio de Janeiro. From the observation of the dynamics urban developments undertaken by excluded social groups by occupying these domains with housing, there was a need to produce and publish this work. Initially, a bibliographic review was carried out about the production of space in the capitalist city, which is characterized by the dispute between different uses and actors. Then, the urban morphology of the territory in question was observed, which is defined by these conflicts. Subsequently, the occupations were described based on reports from residents and data. census. Urban projects and social programs were also surveyed and analyzed. implemented in the surroundings of Ramal do Arará, in order to observe to what extent these projects satisfy the needs of the population and to what extent they are compatible with each other. Here, the internal complexity of the groups that produce the space was verified - namely the local population (residents and their representatives - the associations), the state (municipal, state and federal powers) and the private sector (builders, developers, transport concessionaires and logistics companies). Finally, the conflicts that are articulated between the various agents were linked space producers. Taking into account the attributes of the territory and its context metropolitan area, we sought to envision urban solutions to meet the needs of the population in terms of housing production.
