Resumo

Infantile hemangiomas are the most frequent benign vascular neoplasms in the pediatric population and, despite the possibility of spontaneous involution, may lead to aesthetic and functional repercussions when they are not recognized and referred early. This study aimed to analyze referrals made through the Regulation System (SISREG) of children with suspected infantile hemangioma for outpatient evaluation at the Pediatric Dermatology Clinic of the Instituto de Puericultura e Pediatria Martagão Gesteira (IPPMG/UFRJ), considering the final diagnosis after specialized assessment and the age at the time of the first consultation in relation to the therapeutic window described in the literature. This was an observational, descriptive, and retrospective study, in the form of a case series, based on medical record review. Ten children referred via SISREG in September 2025 were evaluated, with a predominance of females and ages ranging from three months to ten years. After specialized evaluation, seven patients had a confirmed diagnosis of infantile hemangioma, while three presented different diagnoses, including capillary vascular malformations and lymphangioma. Among the confirmed cases, only one child was evaluated before four months of age, which is considered the ideal therapeutic window. The findings highlight challenges related to the accuracy of the initial diagnosis and the timing of referral to specialized care, reinforcing the need for training of Primary Health Care teams and improvement of regulatory referral processes in order to increase access to specialized evaluation within the ideal therapeutic window.
