Reflexões sobre o uso excessivo das mídias digitais na gestação da geração Z

Abstract

Reflections on the excessive use of digital media in the Pregnancy of Generation Z monograph presented to the Postgraduate program of the Institute of Studies in Primary Maternal and Child Care by the Maternity School - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro as part of the requirements for obtaining the Title of Specialist - Institute of Studies in Public Health, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, 2025.The objective of this article is to focus on pregnancy as a structuring phase of human psychological development, bringing new reflections on the excessive and indiscriminate use of technologies called social media during the pregnancy of young people from generation Z, the so-called ‘digital natives’, born between 1997-2010. Understanding how this pregnancy occurs in a dimension in which virtuality and reality are confused, creating a new field to be studied. From this perspective, it is worth highlighting that contact with technological tools has been increasingly induced since childhood. The recreational consumption of digital media by the new generation is an avalanche in terms of digital technologies. Therefore, virtual contact currently points to a possible influence on future society. Thus, verifying the quality of the relationship between the young mother, the imaginary baby, which exists even before pregnancy, the effects of technological tools and the psychosocial influences during the construction of maternal subjectivity marked by this new virtual context becomes urgent in the 21st century.
