Ein volk, ein reich, ein führer!: a seção brasileira do partido nazista e a questão nacional

Abstract

The objective of the present study is to exercise a determined way of thinking the national phenomenon. Our focus are the representations on nation and nationality handled by the Brazilian section of the Nazi Party, and some of the effects brought about by this body of concepts for the relationships established by the party with the Population generically labeled as "German", between the 30's and the 40's. To deal with this specific nationalist discourse, we made use of a collection of documents comprising the so called "doctrinal texts" of the movement, texts published in one of its Brazilian periodicals and documents captured by as well as testimonies of some of its members to the Brazilian police. For the accomplishment of such a task we pursue the connections established between the several criteria verified in the nationalist discourse produced by the party and operated towards the delimitation of boundaries for the German nation, constituting, therefore, the group limits within which it tries to assert its projects.
