Resumo

The myths seen from a theoretical perspective, are oral narratives, whose verbal lines lead us to the truths considered fundamental for a people. This type of narrative within the indigenous villages is responsible for the elaboration of countless meanings which involve important characters for the construction of the people's reality. They reside in the beginning of time, which can be mythical or origins, when everything was created, started and organized; in this respect, the indigenous myth is constituted by a diversified language that can be registered in several forms, which we will call here scriptures, such as body paintings and the very narratives that make up these records. We perceive the myth as a way of exercising thought and expressing ideas. In this context, this work is guarded, because it understands that it is possible to know the history of a people through myth, which points to the fact of formulating, expressing and ordering the ideas and images by which it is constituted as discourse, and by story that tells. Thus, there is a particular relationship between the myth, the way of living, thinking and the history of these peoples responsible for their existence. This work aims to analyze the myth of the big snake, from the perspective of Discourse Analysis (DA), with the premise that this narrative is one of the founding myths of Village Mapuera.
