Caracterização de perfis de intemperismo através dos minerais de argila. Estudo de caso: Bacia do rio Turvo, médio vale do rio Paraíba do Sul-RJ

Abstract

This project aims at a deepening of studies on the weathering in tropical environments. For now, the focus falls on the Turvo river basin, located in the middle Valley of the Paraíba do Sul river (RJ), where there is lithological and geomorphological features diversity. In sub-basin of the Rio Turvo was observed typical features of chemical weathering (sinkholes) while on the river sub-basin stones are found typical features of physical weathering (gullies and thick fluvial packages). The watershed is a system whose set of its sub-basins interact forming a whole and how whole watershed can show us completely different features? This research aims to contribute to the understanding of what are the main determining factors of this internal variation of the nature and magnitude of geomorphological processes in the Turvo river basin assisting in clearing up these spatial variations of morphological nature and sedimentary reflect lithological variations or other conditions. For this, percussion to the polls were made in two weathering profiles, one in each sub-basin and samples were taken to the laboratory for physical analysis such as particle size and specific mass; Chemical and mineralogical analysis with Xray diffraction. where it was found that the most weathered mineralogical assembly is located on the profile in the sub-basin of the Turvo river and less weathered in the Pedras river sub-basin corroborating geomorphological features found
