O apoio continuado do aleitamento materno após a alta hospitalar em um hospital amigo da criança: o impacto na continuidade de aleitamento

Abstract

The general objective was to evaluate the impact caused by the service of the team that is offered in the maternity in relation to the continuity of maternal breastfeeding and the specific ones, to analyze the clinical profile of the women; analyze and discuss the factors that interfere with the continuity of breastfeeding and show their perception of the service offered. The study had a qualitative approach and a questionnaire was used for data collection, sent to mothers assisted by the team between January 2021 and December 2022. Data analysis and processing was carried out descriptively and divided into analysis categories. The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative aims to promote, protect and support breastfeeding, and one of its criteria is compliance with the “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding”. This work was dedicated to the description and analysis of the tenth step “Promote the formation of breastfeeding support groups and refer mothers to groups or other breastfeeding support services after discharge” to assess the impact of the breastfeeding service at Maternidade Escola from UFRJ, considered a Baby-Friendly Hospital since 2020. After the analysis, it can be concluded that women find themselves hindered or wish at some point to stop breastfeeding due to numerous issues. However, it is up to the health professional both in prenatal care and in the hospital, with the multidisciplinary team, to clarify, clarify doubts, be empathetic and transmit knowledge to sensitize and empower these women about the importance of breastfeeding.
