Entre Caminhos e Cuidados : as mulheres do Jardim da Lua/Parque Burnier e a produção cotidiana da cidade

Abstract

This thesis investigates the production of urban space based on the daily practices of women residing in a peripheral community in Juiz de Fora (MG). Grounded in feminist theory, it aims to understand how peripheral women produce the city based on their experiences, trajectories, and life strategies, considering the intersections between gender, class, and race. It hypothesizes that these women, by reconciling productive and reproductive work in an urban context that does not meet their needs, develop practices that create tension and, simultaneously, reinvent urban space. The research adopts a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews conducted with thirteen women living in the Jardim da Lua community. Data analysis allowed the construction of four analytical categories, organized at different scales: daily life and the centrality of care; support networks and peripheral sociability; mobility, accessibility, and urban time; and the relationship between security, fear, and access to leisure. The results show that care is a central element in the organization of these women's daily lives, directly impacting their movements, use of time, and ways of appropriating space.
