Resumo

In this work, a study on the advantages and performance of Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs), when applied to sensors used in the petroleum industry. Among the benefits of using FBG’s, the most attractive are high sensitivity, low signal loss in distant instrumentations and immunity to electromagnetic interference. In this dissertation the behavior of the preselected adhesives to be used in the pressure and temperature sensor (P&T) was studied. Samples were instrumented with the FBGs and tested in a mechanical testing machine. The results were used as parameters in the numerical and experimental analysis of the P&T sensor membrane, based on finite elements using commercial ABAQUS software. Among the adhesives studied, the one that presented the best results was defined through the cyclic tests, the maximum tension of the sensor membrane was defined by the tensile tests. This study define de best geometry that the membrane must assume, so that it can work safely, without causing plastic deformations of the material or problems in the instrumentation of the FBG.
