Resumo
In this work, a methodology developed to identify the concentration of salts in fluids used in offshore production is created. The proposed methodology uses a nuclear technique through the detection of gamma radiation to calculate the linear and mass attenuation coefficient of saline water. A model developed at MCNPX based on an experimental setup made at the Environmental Analysis and Computer Simulation Laboratory of the Nuclear Engineering Program at COPPE / UFRJ, for the first study. In the second study, an experimental stage was carried out in the Laboratory of Nuclear Measurements of the Division of Radiopharmaceuticals of the Institute of Nuclear Engineering, with optimized geometry. As the saline solution for the first study, they are composed of deionized water and P.A. sodium chloride, and as the salt solutions they were 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%. For the second study, saline solutions were prepared according to an artificial seawater reference standard and were titrated using the Fajans method. The results obtained through simulation and experimentally for gamma radiation indicate that the technique can identify variation in waters with different salts, with similar density values.Também disponível on-line.
