Intervenções psicológicas possíveis: a prática como psicóloga residente no serviço de medicina fetal

Abstract

The aim of this study was to understand the psychologist's practice in the context of pregnancies involving fetal risk. It is an experience report as a psychology resident at the Fetal Medicine Service of the Matemity School of UFRJ. The records, made mm the field diary, were analyzed in two thematic axes: 1) possible psychological interventions in teamwork, in which three subcategories of the psychologist's performance stood out: prenatal consultation, ultrasound examination and amniocentesis procedure; and 2) possible psychological interventions in cases of babies incompatible with life. The results indicated as essential the presence of the psychologist in this service working in a multidisciplinary way in prenatal care. In addition, it was found the relevance of psychological interventions together with the couple for the reflection related to the decision to legally terminate the pregnancy or follow-up the pregnancy.
