Estudo de caso de prospecção gravimétrica na Bacia de Cuyo, Argentina

Abstract

ln this work a study of two articles about the application of gravimetry to investigate the argentine sedimentary basin of Cuyo was made. The text was divided in three main parts. ln the first one, the main aspects of the basin 's geology are introduced: stratigraphy, structural geology, tectonic and paleographic evolution and petroleum geology. ln the second part there are basic topics about the gravimetric method and the last part contains the analysis of the articles of sarne first author that investigates the crusta/ extension in the basin based on modeling of gravimetric data, as well as information from seismic data and from magnetometry and also analyses the possibilities of crustal thinning under the basin. Furthermore, one of the articles presents a discussion on the elimination of the gravity ejfect of the Andean root anda recent evaluation of the state of the mass balance.
