Resumo

Palladium nanoparticles can be utilized in the hyperthermia treatment of cancer due their strong photothermal effect and biocompatibility. Furthermore, hyperthermia can potentialize the chemotherapy treatment. Therefore, the main objective of this work was the estimation of model parameters of the in vitro combined chemotherapy-hyperthermia treatment. A Bayesian approach was applied for the estimation of the model parameters with Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. The Approximation Error Model was applied to reduce the computational times of the inverse problem solutions. The absorption coefficients of water-palladium nanofluids were also estimated with actual experimental data. Samples of the nanofluids were heated with a laser and non-intrusive temperature measurements obtained with an infrared camera were used for the estimation of the absorption coefficient. The Metropolis-Hastings algorithm with sampling by blocks was applied due to the low sensitivity of the absorption coefficient and correlation of model parameters. The results obtained in this work reveal that the present inverse methodology was appropriate for the estimation of model parameters in the combined in vitro hyperthermia chemotherapy treatment, as well as of the absorption coefficients of the palladium nanofluids
