Trabalhadores urbanos, trabalhadores rurais: história e perspectivas

Abstract

"Trabalhadores Urbanos, Trabalhadores Rurais" opens a series of publications by the Brazilian College of Higher Studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) based on lecture cycles organized according to research lines stimulated within the institution. One of these lines is the Social Movements Memory Program (Memov), which seeks to gather collections of academic researchers and social movements in a digital database. The initial publications of this collection refer to materials constructed from research carried out in 2013 and 2014 on nine contemporary social movements and also from previous research on movements of rural workers and peasants, as well as workers and favela residents. Therefore, many of the lectures organized in cycles seek to bring contributions from researchers on themes of such movements, in a historical and socio-anthropological perspective, as is the case of this cycle. The 2016 lecture cycle, entitled “New social issues, urban workers, rural workers: history and perspectives”, had as its unit the concern with the construction of different public issues that mattered from the workers' point of view.
