Atotô obaluayê ajuberu: um olhar semiológico sobre a indumentária de obaluayê

Abstract

Analyse the costumes worn by the deity Obaluaiyê in the Rituals of the Candomblé of Yoruba tradition or Ketu Candomblé. I propose a semiological regard on the costumes worn in Candomblé, through a reading of the signs and symbols that are presents in this deity and are conveyed by him. There is a reflection about the establishment of the Ketu Candomblé in the States of Bahia and Rio de Janeiro at the end of the nineteenth century and its development through the twentieth century. There is also an affirmation of an identity and of ideological and socialcultural Afro-Brazilian distinctive properties, which are established through an outlook on the foundations and the carpentry of the cults and that shape in themselves the possibilities of symbolic investiments.
