A segregação urbana reforçada pela mídia: análises de reportagens sobre a linha de ônibus urbano 474 na cidade do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

The intention of this work is to deepen the reflection on urban segregation strategies and usurpation of the rights of the majority of the population, particularized here in the young people of the periphery of the city of Rio de Janeiro in their daily sagas for the right to use public transport to access the different areas of leisure and collective services that the city offers and the criminalization of their stays in elite and middle class neighborhoods. News about bus line 474 was analyzed in different printed, virtual and televised newspapers with wide circulation, in order to verify the responsibility of the media in the formation of public opinion, criminalizing and blaming the poor population for urban violence.
