Por que doar? aspectos motivacionais de nutrizes doadoras da rede brasileira de bancos de leite humano

Abstract

Objective: To reflect on the reasons that led mothers to donate their milk of the Brazilian Network of Human Milk Banks. Identify and categorize these reasons. Methods: This is a narrative review of the literature. The databases used in the research were Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (Lilacs), Scielo and Virtual Health Library. Inclusion criteria: scientific articles published between 2016 and 2019, conducted with mothers who donated human milk to the accredited milk banks of the Brazilian Network of Human Milk Banks. Exclusion criteria: articles not available in full. Results: The motifs identified for the donation of human milk in the articles selected for review were altruism, satisfaction in helping others; milk bank service; availability of time and the support network. Conclusion: Knowing the motives that have led women to donate their milk may help health professionals working in maternal and child care to sensitize other women to become new donors.
