Narrativas periféricas à luz da ecologia política: o caso da comunidade de Indiana – RJ

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze and understand the participatory risk management strategy of residents of the Indiana community, located on the outskirts of Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, in the face of increasingly frequent disasters related to the climate crisis. It is understood that such extreme events affect different parts of a city unequally. For this reason, we sought to understand ways to face the consequences of heavy rains, scarcity of water resources and prolonged droughts through the point of view of residents of peripheral areas such as the participating community, in order to build and map possible solutions and ways of overcome material and symbolic losses caused by the increasingly intensifying climate crisis. Data collection methodologies such as social cartography and systematization of experiences were used so that both research subjects and researchers are integrated into the process of building resilience tools and claiming their rights. At the conclusion of the research, community networks, social laundries and community and educational garden initiatives led by women, with the help of educational networks within the territory stood out as the main guidelines in the fight for basic rights such as food, parental care and environmental preservation , which have a revolutionary and transformative character, giving new meaning and giving purpose to truly participatory management in the community.
