Pensar com a natureza: contribuições ecofeministas à arquitetura da paisagem no Pampa

Abstract

This work discusses the encounter between ecofeminisms and the field of landscape architecture. It begins by contextualizing multidimensional crises, understood as the result of the fictitious independence of cities from Nature and of a way of thinking that subjugates both women and Nature. In this sense, the research engages with concepts from ecofeminism, feminist urbanism, feminist economics, and the caring city, seeking to establish dialogues and convergences with landscape architecture and its theoretical and practical developments. The theoretical framework of the study is grounded in the contributions of Alicia Puleo, Mary Mellor, and Yayo Herrero, central authors in ecofeminist thought. In the field of landscape architecture, the research introduces and revisits the history of the discipline and references such as Anne Whiston Spirn and Joan Nassauer, with the aim of highlighting women’s contributions to landscape architecture in contrast to a field historically dominated by male references. The structure of this work begins with the presentation of ecofeminisms, including notions that intersect with broader feminist debates. Based on the understanding of different concepts and approaches, a critical analysis of the field of landscape architecture is carried out, focusing on the identification of its foundational intentions and on possible convergences with ecofeminist principles and practices. In the empirical stage, the research analyzes different practices of groups that, within an expanded understanding of ecofeminist groups, in some way defend, care for, and seek to protect Nature. These groups are located in the southern region of South America, within the territory covered by the Pampa biome. Finally, based on the discussion of all aspects addressed in the research, a set of tactics and strategies is organized as a contribution to the field, synthesizing the results and reflections developed throughout the study.
