Remoções de moradias no contexto das olimpíadas no Rio de Janeiro: o caso do Laboriaux, os conflitos discursivos e práticas de apropriação do território

Abstract

The present article proposes to analyze the policy of removals in the recent process of urban restructuring in the context of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In order to do so, it aims to investigate a brief history of removals that resulted in the construction of an unequal city, as well as to investigate how the right to housing was dealt with in international and national legislation. It is intended to analyze the current illegal compulsory removals of housing for the construction of the neoliberal Olympic city, which segregates the most impoverished and identify the interests related to disputes over urban space. In addition to studying discursive conflicts and practices of land ownership through a Laboriaux case study, which resisted the threat of total removal under the indiscriminate official discourse of the notion of risk. Finally, we aim to foster visibility of social impacts and popular mobilization for the struggle for the right to housing and for the right to the city.
