Ensino de história local de São João de Meriti/RJ: possibilidades e potencialidades pedagógicas

Abstract

This dissertation analyzes the teaching of local history based on the history of São João de Meriti, addressing the process of urban formation through land subdivisions as an investigative and pedagogical axis. The research seeks to articulate local history and history teaching, investigating how the study of the territory can contribute to the construction of historical thinking and the student's sense of belonging to the place. The work aims to understand the historical formation of the municipality, identifying the pedagogical potential of local history with the development of educational activities for 9th grade students. The research adopts a theoretical-methodological approach to local history, based on a literature review, analysis of memorialistic sources, historiographical works, iconographic records, maps, digital materials, and documents on the land subdivisions of Vila Rosali and Éden. The research concludes that local history is a significant resource for teaching history, as it brings school content closer to students' experiences and highlights historically invisible subjects. As an educational product, it presents teaching sequences aligned with the BNCC (National Common Core Curriculum), focused on the study of the city and the problematization of the relationships between space, society, urbanization, and citizenship.
