Resumo
In the Amazonian urban landscape, the encounter of different ways of living and coexisting with the uniqueness of its biomes and ecosystems is materialized. However, urbanization processes throughout history have often been based on the denial of otherness and the inability to deal with the plurality of this landscape. Despite the constant suppression of the heterogeneity of biophysical conditions and the possibilities of convergence between these and urban sociability, memories, vestiges, and potentialities for tracing other trajectories still reside in this landscape. This work aims to construct a reflection on the design of the landscape in consonance with the plurality of life in the Amazonian context. The research falls within the fields of urbanism and landscape architecture, and has as its backdrop the history of the city, to which is added a constellation of experiences and concepts from other fields of knowledge (literature, visual arts, pedagogy, decolonial thought) that can provoke reflections and thought on the subject studied. The study provides a general overview of the approach at the regional scale, revealing not only the knowledge gap regarding landscape design in the Amazonian context, but also reflecting on the importance of rethinking models and stereotypes, recognizing this territory, and considering what endogenous values could guide the pursuit of urban landscape quality to ensure its plurality and idiosyncrasy.
