Modernidade, comunicação e cultura: a nova face do poder metropolitano (Relatório parcial)

Abstract

Explicit the specificity of the Brazilian metropolitan question when it is reflected in the interchange between sociology and geography. This explanation is sought because it is considered that metropolitan life provides an understanding of obstacles that tend to reach the realization of projects of administrative democratization. Data on the concentration of poverty in metropolitan areas and the specificity of their labor market were used in the article. Besides these data the text finds support in information of the Unified Health System (SUS). From the reflective recovery carried out, the article proposes that the analysis of the metropolitan scale can stimulate the emergence of new ideas for planning, inscribed in the articulation between local and supra-local spaces. It is considered that such ideas are especially relevant in the current conjuncture, when it expands the adhesion to projects of neo-liberal content.
