O uso da informação no processo de gestão: construção de um plano de contingência para a emergência de um hospital pediátrico

Abstract

This work describes the experience of building and implementing a Plan of Emergency Contingency at a pediatric hospital, driven by the use of management information generated from the data of this sector. We perform, initially, based on prior knowledge of the dynamics of hospital emergency, an analysis of the historical series, through the indicators already monitored, monthly, in the sector, in order to identify the periods of greatest pressure in the gateway, and the possible obstacles in the process that lead to the increase of waiting times and consequent disorganization of the space. Given this scenario, we design an intervention strategy, following the path that the user that the emergency service performs, since its entry and reception in the unit until the service at the doctor's office, and, given the service, the referral given to this, whether medication and discharge, observation and care of nursing and/or hospitalization. From this, we define critical points, which would be the action indicators to improve care and what attitudes would result from each of these. Finally, after intense discussions involving different professionals at the hospital, we implemented the Contingency Plan.
