Ensino de bancos de dados: teoria e prática

Abstract

This paper describes the restructuring of the undergraduate database course carried out at a Department of Computer Science of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Now, the programm of this course was totally modified to include database building techniques and practical modules in order to consolidate he theoretical classes. Until 1989 database classes werw mainly theoretic and covered only modelling techniques and database system architecture. This experiment will serve as a basis for reorganizing another undergraduate courses much easier, specially those which are part of Information Systems Curriculum, where the pratical experience is of great importance.
