Restauro dos jardins de Burle Marx para o IPPMG/UFRJ: experiência metodológica de observação de usos

Abstract

This study aims to apply and discuss methodologies that contribute to the process of restoring and updating Burle Marx’s landscape project for the Institute of Childcare and Pediatrics Martagão Gesteira at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Specifically looking at use observations, this study explores behavioral mapping as a tool to design guidelines to restore this public landscape heritage, designed by the most important Brazilian landscape designer. This study argues, among other issues, that the currently existing spaces fail to incorporate the originally proposed articulation between the open spaces and the building and points to future restoration and updating procedures.
