Abstract

Study of the information question regarding the Brazilian Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), based on the construction of a conceptual framework in which is drawn in a historical way the origin of Industrial Property in Brazil, the creation and evolution of INPI. It is described the action of the Institute as the major responsible for the maintenance and dissemination of the industrial property information in our country, specially that contained in patent documentation, as well as its importance for the technological development of Brazil.
