Desenvolvimento regional: os impactos do Programa CPM/BIRD em Juiz de Fora

Abstract

In the 1970s, the Brazilian state, based on urban development strategies defined in the Second National Development Plan - II PND, carried out an important investment program in medium-sized cities, based on a loan agreement with the World Bank - CPM / IBRD. The paper seeks to investigate the results of this national urban policy based on the vision of the participating municipalities, analyzing especially the Juiz de Fora issue in the state of Minas Gerais. Utilizing documentary research and interviews with local technicians and personalities, the study highlights the physical, social, institutional and economic impacts produced by the Special Urban Cities Project - CPM in the municipality.
