Resumo

Descriptive and retrospective research aimed at knowing the prevalence of non-pharmacological methods used by parturients in the delivery roomatthe School Maternity ofthe Federal Universityof Rio de Janeiro in the year 2016. We analyzed information from the transpubertal delivery book of non-pharmacological methods for relief Of the pain, identifying a total of 623 pregnant women who gave birth at term in the referred maternity.The non-pharmacological methods with the highest prevalence during labor were: shower (91.5%), conscious breathing (57.9%), walking (51.2%), movement facilitating labor , Massage (46.1%), ball (24.6%), aromatherapy (8.8%), posture and varied positions (3.5%), squatting (1.8%), Music therapy (1.0%), penumbra (0.3%), warm environment (0.2%) and foot scaling (0.2%). The nursing team is considered a fundamental part for the application of non-invasive technologies, promoting a more humanized and individualized assistance to each pregnant woman: transmitting comfort, physical and emotional support, giving her the conditionsto favor a physiological labor and without interventions. Thus recovering the protagonism of the woman in childbirth and respecting her will on the best way to give birth.
