Conflitos no campo e desmatamento na Amazônia: duas faces de uma mesma moeda

Abstract

In this work, the phenomena of violence in the countryside and deforestation on the Amazon frontier are treated analytically in an integrated way. The relationship is established by observing the historical process of occupation of the region, identifying the nature of land occupation and the dynamics of the deforestation process. To empirically prove this hypothesis, maps and statistical data were used to prove the geographical coincidence of these phenomena. Thus, it can be concluded that violence in the countryside and deforestation in the Amazon are the result of a common matrix, which is exclusion from access to land and the social imbalances caused by it.
