Identificação do núcleo básico de periódicos sobre fruticultura tropical e sub-tropical

Abstract

A method is applied in order to identify a core list of journals in the area of tropical and subtropical fruits. The Bradford-Zipf distribution is utilized to obtain the core list of journals related with Bibliographical Exchange Service of EMBRAPA such as indexed journals by AGRICOLA data base. Interview of fruits ' researchers of the National Research Center for Cassava and Fruitcrops (Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Mandioca e Fruticultura) was made aimed to determine journal title sources that the staff considered important besides obtaining the users' profile search and use of information. The final core list of journals is identified by the intersection from three cores: Bibliographical Exchange Service , data base and user' s sources and it was composed by 17 journals. The fruits' researchers prefer formal communication channels more than informal communication channels. The conclusion is that the core list of journals necessary to take care of the user' s needs, is of 17 journals, but suggestion is made for new titles published in the area.
